Chillipepper '10

Don't forget your final balance for Chillipepper is do this Sunday January 3rd. If you have any questions about what your balance is please call me. I also need to know whether you will ski or snowboard by this Sunday as well. Their is a price difference so please ask me what you will owe for the trip. This Sunday will be the last day to sign-up as well. Its not to late to bring a friend if they would like to go, but after Sunday the trip will be closed.

Busy weekend at NCBC

What a weekend!!! Angel food and the Christmas party were awesome. We were able to serve about 100 or so families on Saturday with angel food. I am so proud of our Jr. High group you all worked very hard and helped feed our community. Saturday night was amazing. The food was great and the fellowship was even better. I hope you all got exactly what you wanted for Christmas. Thank you all for being so well behaved at each of the homes. A special thanks to the Skipper's, Vick's, and Prentice's for opening their homes to the students of our church. May the Lord richly bless this Christmas season for all of you.

Angel Food

Jr. High folks we are going this Saturday to help with angel food ministries. Meet at the church at 8:30 am and we will head over to Fountain of Life to serve. Please dress warmly it will be very cold in the building. We will return to the church around 1:30pm. We will be riding on the church van. If you have any questions just give me a shout.

The much anticipated Christmas Party is this Saturday night. Meet at the church at 5:45pm and we will head over to the first house. Don't forget your "G" rated Christmas present. Just get something no one really wants. We are going to have a blast. Bring a friend to enjoy this great time.

Don't forget about this Wednesday night we are serving at the week of prayer banquet. Please be at the church by 5:45pm in a white shirt and black or kahki pants. We will be helping give back to the church and supporting an oppurtunity to learn more about missions. Please don't miss this great chance to serve our church.

Don't forget about Turkey Bowl Saturday at 3pm meet here at NCBC and then we will ride to the Rec. Dept. field. This Sunday night we will move CrossTalk to the Music suite at 6pm. We will still meet for Pizza Fest at 5:45pm in the Fellowship Hall. This Tuesday is my G.R.O.W night come and help our ministry grow. We meet at 6pm in the parlor.

Turkey Bowl '09

Its time to get jacked up!!!!! I must admit this is my favorite time of year. Football and turkey.... so we are going to mix the two together. We will be having a flag football game to see just how fast and tough you are!!!





Who: Anybody that has skills or thinks that they have skills. Most importantly you and your friends...we want to reach out to people that may not normally come to church with this event.



What: Seriously do I have to say it again. Flag football (not tackle-saftey is our #1 concern).





Where: Thanks to Ashley Smith we are going to be doing it right. He has helped line up the rec. dept. fields for us. We will meet at the church at 3pm and drive up to the fields.





When: The date is set for Nov. 21st at 3pm-until.





Cost: There is none. Unless you're all hardcore and stuff and say that the blood and sweat is payment for the victory.





Later that evening we will head over to Billy and Tammy Hughes's for a pig pickin (bbq and sides). This is going to be a great day of fun and fellowship.

ChilliPepper...the coolest way to get fired up!

Get excited!!! For our ski trip, we will attend ChilliPepper in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This conference will feature the bands Fee, StellarKart and Rush of Fools. Speakers will be Derwin Gray (the evangelism linebacker) and Jeffrey Dean. We will ski at Ober Gatlinburg ski lodge on Saturday. Here's all the vital stats for the trip...

How Much: The question everyone wants to know...how much cash is this going to take out of my pocket...there will be a $50 deposit due November 29th. You will then owe a balance of $70 by January 3rd. This is a total cost of $120 for your room, conference and skiing!!!

Why: As if you have to ask...because you want a great worship experience and some good skiing on the side!!!

As a bonus, to prove that you all are diligent about reading the youth website...the first STUDENT to comment on this post will earn a FREE trip for a friend (this person must be a visitor). But, don't feel gipped...the church is already paying for $50 of your trip no matter who you are!!!

Unfortunately based on the fact that I am in Charleston with WA and Liz the SHS vs. CHS game trip has been canceled. Sorry to dissapoint you all. We also had several people back out last minute as well. Dot forget about helping out Saturday at the fall festival. Please try to get their by 4:45pm.

This Friday Conway High and Sumter High will take the field in Sumter to wage the annual battle of Gamecocks vs. Tigers. We have made plans to be at the game. If you have signed up to go to the game please meet at the church at 5pm this Friday. The game is at 7:30pm this will give us enough time to get to Sumter and grab a quick dinner and head over to the stadium. The cost for the game is $6 and we will eat some fast food so you will need no more than $10 for that. Its not to late to invite a friend to go on this trip. If you are planning to go please drop by my office and put your name on the list. A small note about the game... Sumter High's stadium is not like Conway's stadium if you are going with us please be mindful of where you are. Please stick together with the group at all times and make sure that an adult knows where you are. Running off and playing is not an option for at least 2 reasons 1) We are not in Conway and your parents are probably not with us to keep an eye on just you. 2) We do not want you to get lost. This is going to be a fun and exciting trip. I can't wait to see you all on Friday for the game.

So I reckon Im still trying to figure out this whole blog thing, but I think I like it. Some information about upcoming events that you need to know about.

1. This Sunday afternoon at 4pm we will have a youth council meeting for students and adults in the parlor. Please make every effort to be in attendance as we make plans for the future of our student ministry.
2. Next on the docket is the Conway High vs. Sumter High football game. Please let me know if you want to go. The cost will be $6 for a ticket for the game and you will need a few extra dollars not more than $10 for dinner that night. I know that I said we would tailgate, but because of some unforseen issues we are unable to do that anymore. We will leave the church at 4:30pm and return late that night. Gametime is 7:30pm at Memorial Stadium in Sumter. We will be sitting on the Conway side.
3. The fall festival is just around the corner. As a youth group we are going to be in charge of the bounce house. I need you all to come out and support this event and help manage our game. The event kicks off at 5pm so get here around 4:45pm so that you can bein place with instructions.
4. Dont forget about Operation Christmas Child that we are collecting money for. We are collecting money from now until Nov. 8th. I will go and purchase small gifts and then on Wed. night Nov. 11th we will spend time packing the boxes. Just remember this present is for a child they may not have a Christmas without you. You all are more than welcome to bring your own gifts to fill the boxes. A few guidelines about gifts. Dont send anything that would meltin terms of food also it needs to be small enough to fit in a shoebox. Also if it needs batteries send some or maybe reconsider the gift batteries are hard to come by in some countries if at all.
5. Go ahead and block off Saturday Nov. 21st. This will be our first annual NCBC turkey bowl. Turkey bowl is a flag football game. We have invited Homewood to join us and you get invite any other firends to join us for a great time of football. After the game we will head over to Billy and Tammy Hughes house for a pig pickin'. This is going to be a great Saturday.

Rally In The Valley...THIS Friday-Saturday!!!

I hope everyone's getting excited for Rally in the Valley this weekend in Clemson. You can expect to see a HUGE crowd of teenagers all worshipping with Pastor Ken Scrubbs and The Dave Odom Band as well as a football game that probably won't be nearly as exciting as the rally!!! As all of you know, the rally is starting earlier than expected Saturday morning and therefore we will be leaving Friday afternoon at 5 pm from the church. We will be staying at Wayne's family mountain house, so be sure to tell them THANK YOU!!! Here's a general schedule for the weekend and what you need to bring (& NOT bring!!!)...

Hope this helps everyone prepare for the weekend. Please remember that built into your cost was a t-shirt from the rally and a meal ticket for lunch inside the stadium. Souvenirs inside the stadium are expensive and there may or may not be time for shopping downtown...so I wouldn't suggest bringing a whole lot of extra money. I hope everyone's getting excited!!!

Wow! I can't believe October has already begun! We have a lot going on this month as a student ministry. Along with our normal weekly activities, we also will be traveling to Clemson, SC on October 16-17th for the Clemson vs Wake Forest football game along with a state-wide FCA rally. Money for this event was already due, so if you haven't turned it in you'll have to catch this event again next year. On October 30th we will load up the van and head to Sumter for the Conway High vs Sumter High football game along with a tailgate. The only cost will be the ticket for the game but we do need a head count for food, so sign up on my door. Then on October 31st our church will be holding the annual Fall Festival. This will begin at 5pm. More details to come. As you can see, there will be plenty of opportunities for fun this October! I hope you will plan to join us!!!
