So I reckon Im still trying to figure out this whole blog thing, but I think I like it. Some information about upcoming events that you need to know about.

This Sunday afternoon at 4pm we will have a youth council meeting for students and adults in the parlor. Please make every effort to be in attendance as we make plans for the future of our student ministry.
Next on the docket is the Conway High vs. Sumter High football game. Please let me know if you want to go. The cost will be $6 for a ticket for the game and you will need a few extra dollars not more than $10 for dinner that night. I know that I said we would tailgate, but because of some unforseen issues we are unable to do that anymore. We will leave the church at 4:30pm and return late that night. Gametime is 7:30pm at Memorial Stadium in Sumter. We will be sitting on the Conway side.
The fall festival is just around the corner. As a youth group we are going to be in charge of the bounce house. I need you all to come out and support this event and help manage our game. The event kicks off at 5pm so get here around 4:45pm so that you can bein place with instructions.
Dont forget about Operation Christmas Child that we are collecting money for. We are collecting money from now until Nov. 8th. I will go and purchase small gifts and then on Wed. night Nov. 11th we will spend time packing the boxes. Just remember this present is for a child they may not have a Christmas without you. You all are more than welcome to bring your own gifts to fill the boxes. A few guidelines about gifts. Dont send anything that would meltin terms of food also it needs to be small enough to fit in a shoebox. Also if it needs batteries send some or maybe reconsider the gift batteries are hard to come by in some countries if at all.
Go ahead and block off Saturday Nov. 21st. This will be our first annual NCBC turkey bowl. Turkey bowl is a flag football game. We have invited Homewood to join us and you get invite any other firends to join us for a great time of football. After the game we will head over to Billy and Tammy Hughes house for a pig pickin'. This is going to be a great Saturday.

Just for Parents

I realized not to long ago that I was doing half of my job. I was serving the students and dropping the ball with the parents so I dove in head first to help the parents. Below I am going to list some parent helps and resources. I will only post things that I have reviewed personally. If you have something you would recommend let me know I'll review and then add it to the list.

Magazines: Living with Teenagers: You can find this resource in the Welcome center magazine rack. The best part is it's free please take one... no take two and give one away.

Books: When it comes to books I have never been much of a reader, but out of submission to profs and well mostly submission to profs I have read these books and found them to be great resources for parents.

Peacemaking for Families by Ken Sande: Are you looking for a way to resolve conflict in your family. Here is a great biblical model for such as task.

Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp: An excellent book on raising a child from cradle to college. Trust me you can use this book even if you are getting a late start.

Come Back Barbara by John Miller and Barbara Miller Juliani: A book on dealing with a child that has walked away from there faith and how to love them through it. This book is written from two points of view the parent and the child. It helps the reader remember every story has two sides.

Age of Opportunity by Paul David Tripp: This book is focused on the teen years of child rearing. It is a call to parents to seize the chance to impact their lives from a Biblical standpoint.

When Good kids make Bad choices by Elyse Fitzpatrick and Jim Newheiser: At some time or another you might have heard someone make this remark. This is a book about how to deal with a child's poor choice, love them as they work through the challenge, and focus them back toward Christ.

Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham: Reader beware!!! This book will step on your toes no matter who you are. An excellent work on the family and the importance of Godly principles and leadership starting in the home.

Pamphlets: My kind of reading short, sweet, and to the point.

Single Parents: Daily Grace for the hardest job by Robert Jones: A short work on the life and issues that are present in a Single Parent family. Jones tackles this topic from the Biblical standpoint.
